One Great Hour of Sharing is being received, Now – March 29 

It is the single, largest way that Presbyterians come together every year to build God’s household and welcome our neighbors in need around the world by providing relief from natural disasters, food for the hungry, and support for the poor and oppressed. Each gift helps to improve the lives of people in challenging situations through three impactful programs:  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance works alongside communities as they recover and find hope after the devastation of natural caused disasters. Presbyterian Hunger Program takes action to alleviate hunger and the systemic causes of poverty so all may be fed.  Self-development of people invests in communities responding to their experience of racism, oppression, poverty and injustice, and educates Presbyterians about the impact of these societal ills. Through One Great Hour of Sharing, we not only help improve the lives of people in these challenging situations, we respond directly to the needs God has called us to fulfill in Matthew 25.

Call for Volunteers: Northminster Church’s "Christmas in Narnia" Event 2024

Dear Friends and Members,

We are excited to announce our upcoming "Christmas in Narnia" event, a magical journey inspired by the beloved world of C.S. Lewis. To make this event truly enchanting, we need your help!

Whether you have a passion for crafting, enjoy serving tea, love guiding/teaching others, or have a knack for building and decorating, there’s a place for you in Narnia.

We are seeking volunteers for the following roles:

  • Crafters and Craft Leaders: Assist with creating Narnia-themed decorations and ornaments.

  • Tea Servers: Help us offer a warm, delightful tea experience to our guests.

  • Food Prep: Last year, we served over 200 guests!  We can always use help in the kitchen.

  • Character Make-UP and Costuming: We will have a few more “characters” this year and will need help with make-up and costumes. 

  • Guides: Lead visitors through the enchanting realms of Narnia, sharing stories and making the experience come alive.

  • Builders: Help construct sets, props, and other elements to bring Narnia to life.

  • Decorators: Add your creative touch to transform our venue into a winter wonderland.

  • Docents: Share your knowledge and passion with visitors, enhancing their understanding of the world of Narnia.

  • Team Captains: This event has a lot of different experiences and we need leaders for each area.  From the Welcome Table to “Way-finding” around the campus, we need your help.

No matter your skill level or experience, we welcome all who are willing to lend a hand. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a unique event that will bring joy and share the true meaning of Christmas to our community.

Event Details:

  • Date: The actual event is November 30th, but we build the event the week before. If you plan to play a role working at the event on November 30th, you will need to attend a one-hour Volunteer Orientation/training” on November 24th at 11:30 AM
